Westport Historical Society

Holiday House Tour
and
After Tour Cocktail Celebration

Sunday, December 4, 2005

Westport's historic and diverse architecture was celebrated on Sunday, December 4, as some of the area's outstanding private homes, creatively decorated for the holidays, were presented on the Westport Historical Society's 19th Annual Holiday House Tour.  A Day of Architectural and Culinary Riches was the theme as five homes, chosen for their architectural uniqueness, history and style, were featured this year.  Hundreds of design lovers braved the snow and cold temperatures to participate in the tour, one of the Society's most successful and popular fundraisers.

This year, there was much to please the culinary crowd as well, as an After Tour Cocktail Celebration was held at the custom home of prominent Westport builder Michael Greenberg.  Renowned Chef Matt Storch of Match in South Norwalk was on hand to spend time with guests and create culinary treats in the home's designer kitchen.

CIA Pastry Chef Lisa Storch created sublime desserts for the guests

The one-of-a-kind home, a luxurious rustic retreat with handcrafted woodworking and stonework, was filled with the sounds of live jazz by NYC trio Lapis Luna,  creating an enchanting setting for the celebration.  The fundraiser was attended by over 200 partygoers, including (pictured l to r) Ava and Chris Trefz of Westport, and Tour Chairmen Jackie Cutrone, Jenny Clerkin, and David F. Kneisel, all of Westport. The stunning waterfront home of the Trefz, Westport Point of View, was featured on the Tour.

Congratulating the winner for Match

Janine Scotti and Mar Jennings auction off a dinner party prepared by her husband,
acclaimed Chef Pietro Scotti of Da Pietro in Westport.

Home and Garden Expert Mar Jennings guided the live auction, including a dinner for 10 donated by Chef Matt Storch, to be prepared in the winner's home. Pictured (l to r) Chef Storch looks on as Mar gets the bidding to go higher and higher!  Auction and ticket proceeds benefit the programs at the Westport Historical Society, which include exhibition and educational programs, community and family activities, and archival preservation and research.
