Westport educators Kathie Bennewitz and Sarah Spencer facilitated two workshops called "Step Back in Time to 1865" for children in grades 2-3 at the Minds in Motions workshops at the Bedford Middle School on Saturday, March 24th.  Imagine using a time machine and landing in Westport in 1865.  Using costumes, art activities, games and dramatic play, the children were able to discover what it was like to be a child in Westport in olden days.  Sponsored by the Westport Historical Society, this workshop is one of many hands-on programs offered to children, ages 6-11 throughout the year.  Minds in Motion is sponsored by the Connecticut Association for the Gifted, the Westport Public Schools and the Westport Advocates For the Gifted Education.
