Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the
Westport Young Woman’s League
May 29 – September 3, 2006
The New York Times called them “62 Irate Women”, but our search through countless scrapbooks and other archival material revealed the little-known story of an incredible core of innovative and dynamic women – who used their diverse talents to build an organization that has evolved into one of Westport’s hidden treasures.
Do you know about the 10,000 cupcake project – or how the Levitt Pavilion and the Compo Playground came to be? Or that the WYWL has raised over $3.8 million dollars that is donated to over 150 non-profit organizations?
These projects and many more were featured in this exhibit about a very active organization of Westport women.
