Made in Connecticut, Made by You

On March 29, 2008, Hilary Gibson, the WHS Education Director, conducted two workshops entitled “Made in Connecticut, Made by You” at the Connecticut Minds in Motion program. The young participants were enthralled to learn about the wide range of inventions from our state, including the Frisbee, Silly Putty, Wiffle ball, helicopter, hamburger, Erector set, Wetbone and so many others. The children were challenged to invent something responding to a “problem” presented to them. Their solutions were creative and unique, and the 30 children wanted to keep on inventing, even after the ending bell rang!
Hilary has modified this program for preschoolers, Scouts of all ages, and the WHS April Fun Days program, enabling children of all ages to enjoy these and other inventing activities.
